Renewable-powered district.
100% of electricity supplied across Azabudai Hills comes from renewable sources. The district achieved LEED ND Platinum; Mori JP Tower achieved LEED BD+C Platinum in 2025 and WELL Core Platinum in 2024.

Azabudai Hills already operates on 100% renewable electricity, while Mori JP Tower holds LEED BD+C Platinum and WELL Core Platinum. Sydsol can make the next chapter visible in the architecture itself: a landmark tower that not only uses renewable electricity, but generates it through its envelope.
Azabudai Hills already combines renewable electricity, district energy, water reuse, wellness and top-tier certification. Mori is also increasing the share of renewable power it generates itself. Sydsol brings that ambition onto the tower: the architecture becomes part of the district’s energy infrastructure.
Qualified roof and façade surfaces are screened against the same energy and commercial assumptions used throughout this case study.
Grid-equivalent CO₂ is modelled using the local grid factor. Actual market-based emissions impact depends on the building’s electricity procurement and renewable-energy contracts.
See how electricity generation and equivalent energy cost change through the year as solar resource, orientation and shading shift.
The corrected Solar Studio model concentrates output on the sun-facing sides: southwest contributes about 40% of annual generation, southeast about 24%, and the roof about 15%. The case is strongest when the highest-value surfaces are treated as a targeted architectural layer.
Southwest and southeast are the dominant modelled surfaces. The opportunity is concentrated enough to support a selective intervention rather than covering the tower indiscriminately.

Instead of another procurement claim, the tower itself becomes part of the energy system — a visible, on-site generation layer on one of Japan’s most advanced urban developments.
Mori Building says it has begun developing its own solar generation facilities and intends to increase the share of in-house renewable power supplied to its properties.
The strongest fit is city-making: the envelope becomes infrastructure inside a district already designed around integrated energy, wellness and resilience.
The corrected model places about 40% of annual generation on the southwest façade and another 24% on the southeast. This is a selective south-facing opportunity, not blanket coverage.

Solar Studio reveals the energy potential hidden across an entire building envelope — not just the roof. It combines advanced 3D solar simulation with the commercial metrics asset owners need to make a decision.
We recreate the building and its urban surroundings so the analysis reflects the real geometry of the façade, roof and neighbouring skyline.
Advanced ray-tracing follows sunlight through every hour of the day and every season of the year, revealing how solar access changes across the envelope.
Nearby towers, setbacks and the building itself are captured in a detailed shading profile, separating consistently productive surfaces from those that spend too much time in shadow.
We translate the solar opportunity into generation, energy savings, carbon reduction and payback — turning a complex façade into a clear investment picture.
See where the building can generate, when that energy arrives, and which surfaces create the strongest commercial value.
These inputs define the Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower case study and can be changed for a building-specific assessment.
Indicative feasibility assessment. Results support early-stage decision making and should be followed by site, structural, electrical and façade-engineering review before project development.
We can turn this model into a site-specific pilot scope — target surfaces, expected generation, integration pathway and indicative economics.
